TRIP ADVISOR online review:   We were a group of 12 who stayed Apr. 20 - Apr 27, 2013. The villa was superb!! And along with all the other reviewers, the pictures do not do this villa justice. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was incredible. From keeping our supply of cold drinks stocked, to popping open fresh coconuts for us to enjoy & make cocktails with. The cleanliness of the villa was better than any we have ever stayed in. We chose to have the Mexican cooks, cook most of our meals. OMG!!!. That was a very wise choice! Margarita & Henrietta were always smiling & willing to serve us dinner all the way up that flight of stairs to the roof more than once. We all wanted to bring those 2 home with us. Doug & Shelly were on site & attended all our needs while there. Never once did we feel that our privacy was an issue. We made use of the bikes at the house a number of times. When 2 of the bikes needed repair, they were attended to right away & ready the next time we wanted use them. The horns were a "blast" to use while trying to keep track of our group. It would have been nice to have baskets on the bikes for bringing things back from town, but see where they wouldn't last long in the salt air. We hope to be able to enjoy this home once again in the future. Would highly recommend this home.

'50th Birthday Extravaganza'  What an awesome trip!!  We had a group of 5 couples and the house was perfect.  Brisa Caribe is extremely well maintained and appointed.  The house is beautifully decorated and has a fabulous roof top deck.  The location is excellent as it is close to Tulum, Akumal, and Playa del Carmen.  Doug was a great host and had cold drinks waiting for us on arrival.  I would recommend hiring 'Tina' to cook some meals.  She cooked 4 fabulous dinners for us.  The owner has thoughtfully taken care of ever details.  We all had an excellent time and are looking forward to coming back. Hi Doug, I just wanted to take a couple of moments to say thank you. I have just returned home to frozen Winnipeg from your slice of paradise and I have to say last week was one of the highlights of my 36 years. The villa was everything we hoped for and so much more. Even with our group of 13 we never felt crowded and it was easy to find a spot away from everyone for peace and quiet. The villa was immaculate and spacious and felt like a home, not some cookie cutter rental property. The staff was very warm and friendly and always had a smile for us. The food the ladies prepared for us was fantastic as well and each night was a new treat. Some of our group was concerned that Puerto Aventuras was going to be too far off the beaten path but soon found that everything we could want was within easy walking distance. I have to also recommend a few of the area attractions. My wife and 8 year old son enjoyed an afternoon they will treasure forever when they went to the Dolphin Discovery. They got to swim with dolphins, manatees, sea lion and even sharks. The facility is well run by very knowledgeable and friendly trainers. A few of us also booked a fishing charter through Capt. Rick’s and went for an afternoon of fishing. We met Leo on the docks and he looked after us like we were family. We went out with Capt. Lala and his 1^st mate. As it turned out the fishing wasn’t spectacular on that day, but we still got a couple and had great fun. They also run a first class operation. I spent a few days snorkelling right in front of the villa and have to say it was simply breath-taking. A number of our group had booked snorkelling charters to various reefs in the area, but all came back and said they saw more and in greater numbers right out front. I could go on forever about all the great experiences we had at Brisa Caribe, it helped me cross many items off my life’s “bucket list”. Thank you, and hope to see you again. "Que Fabulosa"  Doug's vacation home is outstanding. He lives on the property in a separate guest house and keeps it in perfect shape. There are multiple dining areas with bars and grills to seat over a dozen guests. The breeze travels through the home nicely but each room has separate air conditioning. The German cook Tina is incredible. I highly recommend having her cook most your dinners as she is cheaper than most restaurants and does such a nice job. The kitchen though is well appointed for cooking yourself and there's a nearby grocery store. Make sure to play beach volleyball. And rent Doug's snorkeling gear at a fraction of the rental price elsewhere. The wifi was pretty decent allowing us to video call home. And the staff was also very good; absolutely no theft even though I left money all over the place.  Trip Advisor online review

"A Week of Unforgettable Memories'  The house was amazing, spacious, beautiful and very very clean.  There were people in everyday cleaning up after us which was a nice touch, especially when you have a group as large was we did.  We had people come in and prepare breakfast and dinner for us, which I highly recommend if you can, because the home cooked meals were amazing.  Every guest room had their own bathroom, which again comes in handy with a group as large as ours.  Before the trip I was a little hesitant when I found on the map the villa was a ways from the town, but in truth Puerto Aventuras is small enough that almost everything is within walking distance.  Of course a golf cart comes in handy.  I came to celebrate a friends wedding and have to say it was an absolutely perfect week.  L. We just stayed a week at this house and had an unforgettable vacation, We had a group of 12 and had ample room. The view was spectacular as were the grounds which include a full beach volleyball court. The owner was super organized and hospitable. Everything was clean and well maintained. My only concern was the bedding wasn't very breathable (had a rubber liner) so I got sweaty as did other while trying to sleep. Dear Doug, I want to thank you for renting your very wonderful villa to our extended family. All of us had a very special Thanksgiving week, one that we will remember and talk about for years. I must say, the villa is so well equipped that we did not lack for anything we needed. Especially, I do appreciate all the baby gear (pack'n'plays, highchairs, monitors, toys, strollers and gate) that you had set out for us. Converging from 4 continents to celebrate, anniversaries, birthdays and being together.  Walking into the ambiance of rooms reminiscent of lands many of us have been to and viewing the artefacts & decorations so thoughtfully designed for each room.  We frolicked in the swimming pool, gathered in the Jacuzzi, played volleyball on the beach and barbequed in glowing moonlight.  The God of rain blessed us by not showering us with his might till the last evening when he showed us his glory in spectacular bursts of thunder and lightening.  Our grateful acknowledgement and thanks to the staff who so efficiently and graciously made each day flow smoothly and to the cooking staff who satisfied us with tasteful cuisine of this country and introduced us to a variety of new foods.  For a vacation we will remember with heartfelt pleasure.  Prashant Bahadur, July 2011

This house is so full of neat things to see.  All of the decorations you have collected is quite something.  The iguanas outside I will never tire of looking at.  There are 2 cats I've seen come through here once in awhile as well.  So many crabs too.. from small to a large one we saw in the rocks by the waterfall.  It was all so amazing.. thank you for the memory.  Lori K. Trip Advisor online review: Everything from beginning to end was fantastic. The villa was excellent with all the amenities necessary. Location was great for access to local establishments and the highway for 'road trips'. Getting connected with Vickie for planning activities was easy and effective. Highly recommend the local Mexican cooking services and setting up an in house massage - we only wished we'd done more of both of these things earlier in the week after we found out how incredible they were (and reasonably priced)!  Doug has a great thing going here and it was one of the better trips we've been on. And with 5 couples and one 2 year old that's saying a lot.  'An Excellent All Round Experience'

HomeAway online Review:  My husband and I rented this villa with 7 other couples to celebrate his 50th birthday. I must say it was fabulous. I researched many properties before I chose this one and we couldn't have been more pleased when we arrived on site. As nice as the website pictures are, the villa is much more amazing in person. With 8 couples on the property for a week, we found that we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy ourselves without feeling as if we were ever in anyone's space. I would suggest that you take advantage of the cook Tina that the villa owner recommends. She does a fabulous job, is very flexible, and is definitely worth the price so that you can enjoy the wonderful setting that this villa provides. We found that the best place to do grocery shopping was Wal-Mart in Playa del Carmen (don't even waste your time with the Sams Club there). There's a little taco house next to the Pemex gas station at Puerto Aventuras gated entrance where you can take very good fish tacos to go (great for lunch). One of the biggest things we were so pleased with is the location of the villa. Our entire group would have been happy to stay on the property for the entire week and not go anywhere but it is so easy to get to Tulum, Akumul, Playa del Carmen, Chichen Itza, and all the cenotes the area has to offer that we couldn't resist an excursion or two. You're not far from anything that you might want to do. When we got home from our trip and thought about the stay at Brisa Caribe, we couldn't think of one single thing that could have been better about this property, and we have pretty high expectations. We would definitely return to this villa and wouldn't consider staying any other place when we come back to the area.  'Outstanding Property'  March 2011

Brisa Caribe is even more impressive in person than in the photos on your website. The most surprising thing was the ideal location. So much is within a 20 minute drive north or south. Doug, One final word on our Christmas vacation to Puerto Aventuras. On your recommendation, I purchased travel insurance. On the way home, we got caught up in the Northeast snow storm and we ended up stranded in Fort Lauderdale for four days. We were living in a hotel near the airport. It was boring and expensive.  It took a little time, however, I just received confirmation that the insurance is paying about 95% of the total living expenses we incurred.  Thanks for the recommendation. From Trip Advisor: We stayed in this beautiful villa in January with a group of close friends and family.  Our grandson Miles (10 months) was also with us.  We have stayed at many Villas over the years and I have to say that this Villa had everything!  I still can't get over how well the kitchen was stocked with dishes, silverware and cookware.  We hired Sarah for several breakfasts and also a dinner party one evening to celebrate a birthday!  The meals were prepared to perfections and Sarah's staff was so kind to us.  The entire villa was just perfect for our large group!  And, I can't say enough about Doug's staff who went out of their way to make our stay stress free.  We loved the location of the Villa... such a fun walk into town to stroll around the Marina.  If you have never been to Puerto Aventuras, you are in for a wonderful treat!  It is just the perfect, relaxing, vacation spot and has something for everyone!  We just can't say enough about this wonderful property.  We recommend it to the highest degree and cannot wait to return next year.  The Kansas Crew, Feb 2011.

For a large party I can't imagine a better location. The home is well laid out and comfortable. The services fantastic. The cooks were wonderful. We did not do a lot of tourist things because we simply did not want or need to leave the beautiful Brisa Caribe. "Brisa Caribe was more than we expected. The villa and the surroundings are simply spectacular. We didn't want to leave. This was a family vacation, from 3/20-27,2010, with our 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren; everyone had a great time. Doug has thought of everything and is very accommodating.  The meals prepared by Tina and Sera were so delicious, with plenty of food leftover. What a relaxing setting; many activities are close-by. Fourteen dear friends from all over the country met at Villa Brisa Caribe for our yearly trip together.  Each year we pick a villa and spend a week together.  Brisa Caribe was far and away the best of all our trips.  The villa is gorgeous, clean, creative, artistic and the art is to die for!  You will feel like you are in a museum.  Everyone had a big bed with a wonderful mattress.  Each bedroom is more beautiful than the next.  The owner thought of everything.  The kitchen has every item you will ever need.  The website he put together answers every question you can imagine.  You will find everything there is to do in the area, all the great restaurants, pre-arrival instructions....no detail is left to chance.  We were made to feel so welcome and there was always someone available to help us arrange tours and to suggest things to do.  I must say though, we really enjoyed chillin' and hanging around that gorgeous villa.  We were up on the roof nightly have cocktails and watching the sunset while looking at the ocean.  The cooks were fantastic.  What a joy to sit outside and eat together with cooks who are willing to make anything you'd like.  Everything you see on the website is exactly as represented.  You are taking no risk renting this villa.  We loved walking into town and dancing at Cafe Ole. There are no better pies anywhere in the world.  We went back there three times! SiSiSi  Restaurant made amazing snapper. We swam with dolphins, toured Tulum, shopped in Playa Del Carmen, went fishing and shared wonderful times with our friends.  We got home just yesterday, and we all can't wait to return.  Sandy Rose Nov. 2009.

My extended family - 21 in all - enjoyed our stay at Brisa Caribe very much.  Our 2nd visit, we appreciated the additions to the pool area + other improvements since 2006 when we first came.  Your villa and those who care for it contributed to a week of pure R&R.  Everyone is friendly and helpful, eager to make our vacation a perfect one.  As before we appreciated the furnishings of the villa + the space.  We made use of the glorious rooftop for happy hours, enjoyed many hours in the salt pool or at the beach and of course poolside.  Thanks for the hospitality.  We will do our best to return.  Stefaniks, Oct. 2009

WOW! What a beautiful place.  Our first of many family vacations with 3 brothers, their wives and the kids, was a great house to accommodate our family.  A treat to all be able to sit together for meals at a different table every night.  We enjoyed ALL the activities you had to offer.  Biking with the kids, beach volleyball, golf, fishing, snorkelling in Akumal, massage & pedicures at the house.  Not to Forget ... Hi Andra & Doug-We had an AMAZING time at Brisa Caribe last week. Our entire group was so glad we did not cancel our trip.  It's clear that Mexico is being very smart about dealing with the flu leaving Mexico completely safe for visitors. Our numerous adventures throughout the Yucatan, and our frequent interactions with the locals never posed any concern from a health standpoint or otherwise. Posted on HomeAway web site: Our family enjoyed Brisa Caribe for a week in March '09, along with 2 other families. We had children ranging from 10 years old to 20. The owner, Doug, and his staff exceeded our expectations in every way- as did the Villa.  The description here is quite accurate, it is a lovely Villa and has been well maintained. Doug has a fantastic staff, who comes each day and spends a few hours inside and out taking care of cleaning and maintenance service. We enjoyed talking to them and getting advice on how we might spend our day.  We also met Sera and Santiago, the Mexican cooks who made us some of the best dinners we have ever had.  Most in our party had stayed in this general area of Mexico on previous trips, even visited Puerto Adventuras before, but the Brisa Caribe, tucked away on the end of a short street, right on the beach was one of the best finds we have ever made. We never left PA- found everything we needed right in the Village which is a short walk past the Marina. There are lots of great shops and restaurants in the Village. Puerto Adventuras is a gated Village, so we felt safe at all times. We would definitely recommend this property, and hope to go again ourselves.  B. Fuson.

We arrived in Brisa Caribe in late February and were able to relax as soon as we arrived. The owners were extremely accommodating and created a sense that we were truly at a home away from home. Each of the rooms in Brisa Caribe has a different theme attached to it and is adorned with authentic artifacts from the area that it is modeled after. We stayed in the "honeymoon" suite which was aptly named the "Bombay Room" and held wonderful artifacts from the area. We awoke to a beautiful ocean front view every morning and the rooms were expertly cleaned by the time we got home from our adventures in the afternoon. The property was well kept and the fridge was always full of cool drinks. We were a quick walk away from the main restaurant and shopping area of Puerto Aventuras, as well as the Dolphin Adventure and fishing expedition area. A 20 min cab ride brought us to Playa Del Carmen when we wanted more options and the local adventure sites were minutes away.  I would extremely recommend the property to others as we were able to "get away from it all" and still have all the luxuries of home in a setting that was relaxing, fun adventurous, and beautiful. Plenty of room for large groups and a ton of fun for even a couple to enjoy the beauty of this wonderful villa!  B. Korol Feb. 09

Every single person in our party commented on how much they loved their room, how beautiful the villa was and how well supplied it was.  One of the things that struck us was the ability to have a lot of different activities happening at the same time - from very quiet and relaxing to more rambunctious.  The number of common and private outdoor and indoor spaces was just incredible!  Doug and Twyla were amazing hosts - Twyla in particular was at the villa every morning substituting for a sick maid.  She was incredibly gracious in giving advice, making recommendations and helping to arrange activities.  We were thrilled and hope to be back in the near future with a smaller # of adults and some of the little ones.  I loved everything about the villa and so did everyone else.  Thank you for all your help!!  Katie Hawks

Dear Doug and Twyla:   Where can I begin to describe the magnificent time we enjoyed at Brisa?  First, as beautiful as your web site is, it does not come close to depict Brisa Caribe for the fabulous estate it is.  Having 12 in our party, I was worried if we would be on top of one another.  That was not the case at all.  Our party included ages between 16 and 71, spanned 3 generations, and included 8 family members and 4 friends.  We literally had the time of our lives!  The memories that were created both at the villa and during our little excursions are priceless.  It was the fastest week of our lives and we enjoyed all the amenities offered at the villa.  We loved the guest pool house for our immediate family of 4, and it felt like we were at our own private retreat.  Some of the activities we truly enjoyed were riding the bikes at night to the center to enjoy a late night snack and nightcap (the margaritas were great), Cozumel (Mexicalitos was wonderful), Playa del Carmen, Xel Ha, parasailing, Captain Ricks Deep Sea Fishing, your volleyball set-up, and our Mexican Dinner that was prepared for us.  Our trip will never be forgotten, and will only be repeated when we book our next trip (hopefully, soon).  Your hospitality was fabulous and Twyla, you truly touched my heart in many ways.  The two of you have a beautiful home and we thank you for the unforgettable vacation.  We are blessed to have enjoyed such a wonderful time with family and friends, but we could have never dreamed that you would have provided such an amazing experience.  Thank you for everything!  John and Wendy Kozma  Novi, Michigan

Doug & Twyla, It was tough coming back to snow after such a beautiful week. I think I speak for the whole group when I say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  It can be difficult coordinating 10 people and keeping everyone happy, but your villa made this easy. This was our fourth year doing a group trip, and although we have stayed in some great villas, your home was our favorite. You have thought of everything to make a stay perfect. The beds were like sleeping in your own, every amenity you would want was available. The computer with internet access made communication with home easy. The stocked bar was wonderful, I know it’s not easy keeping up with all the beer we consumed, but Orlando did a great job. The ocean front location is beautiful. I think I caught the sunrise every day (not sure why I was up so early on vacation, but it was worth it). The rooftop bar was a great place to gather at night before heading into town. One of the best features was the proximity to the marina area. Our group liked being able to walk to the shops and restaurants, not having to worry about driving. This allowed people to do their own thing or catch up with the group later without any hassle. We enjoyed diving with you and Twyla. You have a great set-up at the villa to make this convenient. I envy you two, to be able to go right out in front of the villa to shore dive is so cool. We had a wonderful night dive there, even if Shane was hanging on to Twyla the whole time. Our favorite dive was the turtle dive. We saw more turtles (20+) on that dive than in all previous dives combined. We hope to be back some day. My first visit to Mexico - What a way to go - Or should I say 'Stay'!!  Your home is beautiful and so interesting with new discoveries each day.  I will have a difficult time topping this vacation.  Relaxing here was so easy.  Gerry, Orlando and the rest of the staff added to the charm.  I also met many very nice people.  Cafe - Cafe is the place to go for the most wonderful deserts and the chicken sandwich is yummy... Taco Paco's for fish tacos.. who would of thought of fish in a tortilla?  Friday night Sara and sisters came to make Mexican dinner #3 - Wonderful tortilla soup is delicious with flan completing the most tasty chicken and rice dish.  I hope to someday return.. We came! We conquered! There are 3 predominant words that reflect the overall feeling this week - Paradise, Decadent, Fun!  Everything was incredible.  The staff is amazing.  The cooks are phenomenal.  (make sure to try several selections from the Mexican menu, as well as the Sourbrauten)  This incredible villa allows for such great family closeness while we played games, had amazing meals together, etc.  Thanks for the recommendation of Cafe-Cafe.  Great lattes and brownies, and make sure to try the vanilla shake.  Mimi is as gracious as everyone we have met this week.  Thank you for what has turned out to be a vacation of a lifetime!  The O'Neil & Star families.  Dec. 20/03

I don't even know how to begin to describe my 50th birthday celebration at Brisa Caribe. It was a combination of having the best of friends (eight women from around North America) together at the same time in the most spectacular location we could ever have imagined. This is a tough crowd to please (not a follower among them -- all Type A's and critical as heck). But there wasn't a single detail at Brisa Caribe that found fault. From oohs and ahhs at the quality of the bed linens, to the realization that pretty much every creature comfort had been anticipated --  even before we realized we wanted it (ie. watching a good movie together, dancing in the moonlight to the great sound system, making delicious group 'themed' meals in a fully-equipped kitchen). The layout of the space was ideal for a group as there were at least a dozen places to call one's own and no one ever felt crowded or as if they couldn't just read or enjoy alone time.  The location was perfect as well, being halfway down the coast. We were very glad we'd rented a vehicle and used it to go on adventures in the area each morning -- lagoons for snorkeling, ruins, remote beaches, little shops, out-of-the-way restaurants -- then back to the villa to relax and unwind. It was such a spectacular setting we never left the premises at night. It was too much fun to be at Brisa Caribe.   No question, we'll be back. Doug and Twyla and their wonderful staff have created an amazing home that just naturally generates a trunk load of memories. I'm selfish. I want more in the future!  Catherine Winckler Dec. 6/03

Dear Doug & Twyla,  What a vacation!  Our heartfelt thanks to you both, and to your staff for making our stay at Brisa Caribe so enjoyable.   The careful considerations you made when designing the home simply blew us away.  It was obviously built to create a private oasis for relaxing and for making memories to last guests a lifetime.  We will never forget the honeymooners dancing in the moonlight to the Rolling Stones on the rooftop deck, our 76 year old Grandma Sammie getting a tattoo in Playa, or our children getting up in the morning to find 'kitty cat'   The pool is a work of art.  How about a poolside jacuzzi next year?  Our hats off to you both.   Fondly M & L Stump August 9/03
