Mariposa is a very special Riviera Maya vacation villa located in the Los Rocas area of Puerto Aventuras between Playa del Carmen at Akumal.  (see Riviera Maya map)  (see Puerto Aventuras map)

This butterfly has undergone a metamorphosis into something very special.  This fully air conditioned 3500 sq. ft. Puerto Aventuras villa is stylish, comfortable, and has numerous features not found in most weekly vacation villas of the Riviera Maya. 
 

Wonderful Indo-Pacific furniture in bamboo, rattan, and exotic woods, set off against lovely fabrics, blend well with quality American soft leather pieces.  Mexican tiles, marble, colorfully washed walls, and handcrafted finishing's, all mix well to create a richly inviting villa that will swallow up the stress of your life back home.

As you enter Mariposa, you are immediately drawn right through the house and onto the deck to take a closer look at the gorgeous blue Caribbean water. After a few moments savoring the warm tropical air, you are well on your way to shedding the stresses of home.  Now you are ready to find your bedroom in order to change into something cooler and more casual.  That may be difficult because 3 of the bedrooms have ocean frontage and are equally appealing.

  Right off of the patio area is a lovely, bright, oceanfront bedroom with a spectacular view.  It has a King bed, attached bathroom with shower, and a slider providing easy access to the terrace, pool, and ocean only steps beyond.  The second of the four bedrooms can be found on this level near the entrance. This room has Twin beds that can be put together to form a King, attached bathroom with shower, and has French doors out to a private terrace with a lovely view of the garden. 

The villa centers around the very open living/dining area that is completely glassed to the pool/ocean front. This room vaults up through the second floor to a domed ceiling, creating a very open and dramatic effect. A collection of couches and chairs provide places to lounge while you visit or enjoy the view. On one wall is an entertainment center with stereo, 43 inch large screen TV with American Satellite, and a DVD player with a good selection of movies, just in case you get tired of the view.  In fact if you want to watch a movie in bed or just escape from the group, you will be happy to discover that each of the bedrooms has a TV with DVD player.  

  The dining room has a beautiful cut Mayan stone wall that is quite striking, a large dining table, and chairs to sit eight. In addition, there is bar seating next to the dining table with a pass through from the full kitchen. Everything you need to prepare a meal is right here.

Once upstairs you will be taken once again by the openness of this villa. The vaulted living area below rises up through the middle of the second floor, providing separation with the floor below, but not isolation. Arched windows toward the garden and ocean allow natural light in and more of those stupendous views.

On this floor you will find two Master suites. Both of these are very large and afford fabulous ocean views. Each has King bed, bathroom with shower, and private sitting areas to enjoy the views. Each suite has a domed ceiling, one of which is done in traditional Mexican hand made brick. The sitting area below this striking feature, has a leather couch providing a very private place for the guests.  This couch is also a sofa bed which can also be used to sleep 2 additional people.  

Villa Mariposa has a lovely 15’ X 20’ oceanfront pool with a shallow end for the kids. 

Mariposa is located on a flat rocky shoreline in the private Las Rocas area of the resort/residential community of Puerto Aventuras.  The flat rocky shoreline in front of the villa offers spectacular vistas, well appreciated privacy and lazy hours spent combing the shore for treasures.  On a calm day snorkeling in front of the villa is spectacular.  A short stroll down from here is the Sunscape Hotel beach with its' sandy beach and protected bay.  Or the even nicer, Omni Beach with access to all of the Omni Hotel facilities, is a 15 minute walk or 3 minute car ride.  Puerto Aventuras offers many options for guests with restaurants, bars, shopping, golf, diving, tennis, swim with dolphins, deep sea fishing, sailing charters, parasailing and other activities & services within walking distance of the villa. Hello Doug,  Well, we are finally home.  It was a long trip with bad weather with flight delays but we made it.  I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for everything.  Villa Mariposa was just beautiful!  We all felt so much at home there.  Becky and Edwardo were amazing.  Such hard workers and so sweet.  The kids loved everything about the house, the pool was their favorite.  They spent a lot of time hunting on the beach finding all sorts of treasures.  It was a family vacation of a life time.  Our children are older teens now and this may be our last big family vacation while all together. (not to mention we have to start paying for College not vacations)  Puerto Aventuras is a wonderful little community and the dolphins were a big surprise!  We had no idea that they were there.  The kids loved it and so did the adults.  So much fun.  The kids swam with dolphins, Snorkeled at the cenotes, Parasailed, discovered Tulum ruins, shopped Playa Del Carmen and Jeff and I found time for a 2 tank dive.  We met Kathy, the owner, and had a very nice visit.  She was very accommodating.  When we arrived the blender was broken and she wasted no time getting us a new one.  She knows the value of a blended margarita while in Mexico!!  We all had a wonderful time and thank you for helping us put together a lifelong family memory.  Sincerely, The Richardson's,  April 2007

"Wow, what a blessing this vacation was!! We came as a group of eight. Each of us will take back memories of this beautiful land, from the view right in front of our villa to the beautiful views of Tulum. Our amazing day at Tres Rios & Chichen Itza to our day of shopping in Playa del Carmen. And our days of just lounging around the villa and marina....so peaceful. If there is one thing you shouldn't miss it is Tres Rios. We did the all-inclusive package ($75.00) and we got to ride horses, kayak, bike ride, drive reef runners, and snorkel. All our drinks and lunch were included. It was an amazing day. We also met some amazing people here. Gina, Rufino, & Cheli are the nicest people around. Definitely have Cheli make dinner for you. She's an awesome cook. Check out the shipwreck museum located in the marina. Very interesting things to see. I hope your group has the enjoyment of the villa, the people, places & food as we did. --Vicky"
