Most luxury villas
on the Mayan Riviera that are available to the rental market serve strictly as
weekly vacation villas.
While many of these villas are well equipped and appointed, they often lack the homey feeling you will find at
Villa Brisa Caribe.
This is because Brisa Caribe is not just another luxury oceanfront villa used specifically for vacations.
It is the year round home of expatriated Canadian Doug Wasmuth.
Doug's profession and love of travel has allowed
him the rare opportunity to visit, work
and live in a large number of countries stretching around the world.
The experiences gained and treasures gathered from this lifestyle have resulted in an eclectic taste, which is brought out in the architectural and interior design of the villa.
Doug considers the greatest asset from his travels to be the many and diverse friendships that
he has developed along the way.
Having enough room for these friends and family to visit and the right surroundings to entertain them in, has resulted in the
6000 plus square foot, 9 bedroom, 10 bath villa with
pool house, which is Brisa Caribe. When family or
friends are not visiting he is willing to make available this unique home for you and your family, friends or
associates.

In order for a home to be comfortable it should not only offer all of the creature comforts that make life easy and enjoyable, there should also be a natural effortless flow to how life
functions within it.
The home should have character, a personality, which presents itself as you see the home from different perspectives and over time.
In addition there must be areas which provide privacy and intimacy, yet open spaces for the occupants to gather and celebrate.
Finding this balance when designing a large home, which normally houses only 2 people but at other times caters to as many as 18, is a challenge which has been well met at Brisa Caribe.
The street side of the property is walled and gated for your
privacy. Upon entering the grounds you will find a small peaceful
garden with fountain on your right and the “casita” on your left.
The casita is a separate 3500 sq. ft. building that stretches onto the
adjoining lot. It serves as a combination of garage, staff room,
staff laundry, and dive equipment storage area on the ground floor.
The top floor is a two-bedroom apartment where Doug resides when the
villa is rented and he is in residence.
If Doug is off on an adventure, then he will provide an English speaking
administrator to give an orientation after your arrival and available
should a problem arise during your stay. (to learn more about
Doug's adventures see
www.WazzyWorldd.com
)

The area between the casita and villa is a small courtyard where you will
find a wash tank and drying area for your scuba and snorkel equipment.
This is a good protected place to hang those wet towels and bathing suits
too.

Upon
entering the villa, you likely won’t notice anything
except the beautifully framed view of the ocean. As you
explore more you will see that the architectural
design not only showcases the spectacular views, but
also ensures that the refreshing Caribbean Breeze,
that the villa was named for,
passes freely through the home. Most times you will
prefer to keep cool naturally using the breeze assisted
by the ceiling fans located in every room. However,
for those times when there is no breeze, you will
remain comfortable because Brisa Caribe is fully air
conditioned (not just the bedrooms as you may find
in other villas). This is an important point
which you can only fully
appreciate once you are here and experiencing our
warm tropical evenings .
The ground floor is centered around an entertainment
room that flows right outside onto the terraces and
pools, with ocean just beyond. These outdoor
areas are quite spacious and spectacular. Two of
the oceanfront lots are dedicated to guests. The
third has pools and lounge areas for the owners'
private use. His separate little oasis is
tastefully hidden behind a large rock waterfall and a
scattering of vegetation which blends in well with the
environment. You will find that the development
of the 3 lots has
been well designed to provide privacy, great views, and
plenty of room for your entire group to spread out
over.

A covered terrace off of the villa extends to a
sunning area around the main pool with chaise lounges
and umbrellas. In front of this is a grassy area
before dropping down to the sand where you will find a
volleyball court and thatch palapa with hammocks.
100 yards from here you will find the saltwater
pool in a public area and a protected bay with sandy
beach just around the corner.
Next to the villa on the second lot is a large patio
area ringing a shallow wading pool with waterfall. Off
to the side is a covered poolside wet bar/bar-b-que
area with full size refrigerator to keep your drinks
cool and close at hand. Seating for 20 is
provided so you can enjoy a meal around the pool.
Here too you will find the detached pool house we
call 'Brisa del Mar'
Brisa del Mar
has 2 wonderful oceanfront bedrooms with spectacular
views. The second floor bedroom is a Master
suite complete with sitting area, TV/DVD, stereo,
security safe and Jacuzzi tub with ocean view.
The
large, partially covered terrace offers all
kinds of privacy for the lucky couple who share this
room. The bedroom below is slightly smaller but
with attached bathroom, private walk out to the pool,
covered terrace and that view, nobody will feel
cheated to have to spend a week here. Both of
these bedrooms are accessed from the sliding glass
patio doors. A pool
side bathroom, close to the bar area will be
found to be very convenient.

Back inside
the villa, the
entertainment
room features a fully stocked wet bar with full size refrigerator
loaded with ice cold drinks awaiting your arrival.
This room
also has a surround sound TV system, Digital satellite receiver with American programming,
DVD player with a
selection of over 100 movies, stereo system with cassette
and CD player, XBOX video game machine, as well as a good selection of games,
puzzles and books to enjoy. We even have a
computer station set up with internet connection for
you to keep in touch with family, friends and heaven
forbid... 'the office.' Remember to bring your
laptop, iPod, favorite
XBOX video games and music.

Off
of the entertainment room you will find four bedrooms,
all of which have been decorated from Doug’s
collection of art and memorabilia to create a different
theme.
You may have trouble deciding which exotic destination
you want to stay in. Perhaps you will simply need
to exchange mid week to experience another. The “Persia”
room will take you back to the days of frankincense
and myrrh. It faces the garden and is furnished with
a Queen bed. Across the hall is the “Buenos Aires”
room. That enchanting city of Latin romance where
the tango was born. It is facing the small courtyard/casita
and contains Twin beds. The Twin beds can be put together
with a
special
mattress pad and different linens to create a King.
One or both of these bedrooms can be locked off from
the rest of the villa should you not require all 7
bedrooms and wish to reduce the rental price. The
other two bedrooms on this floor, “South America”
and “Caribbean” face the pool/ocean and have King
beds. All beds have high quality mattresses and linens.
Each bedroom is equipped with a portable CD/cassette
stereo, alarm clock and its own bathroom with shower,
thick towels, bathrobes and hair dryers. There is
a self-programmable security safe in every bedroom
closet for added peace of mind that your valuables
are secure.

On
the second floor you will find the great room with
its stunning 16 foot high red brick domed ceiling.
The focal point of this large open area is the kitchen,
where of course all
good
parties end up. Here the cook or bartender is the
center of attention and is rewarded for their efforts
with one of the best views in the villa. Wrapping
around the kitchen is a large serving/dining counter
with stools where 6 can sit comfortably. In the kitchen
and attached pantry, you will find all of the appliances,
cutlery, dishes, pots, pans and tools needed to prepare
anything from a
simple snack for 2 to an elaborate dinner for 18.
If you like cooking, you will love this kitchen.
If
however you want a break, there are numerous restaurants
in Puerto Aventuras. (see
Restaurant
Guide) Or if you prefer, we
will do our best to organize a cook, chef or caterer,
to prepare your meals right at the villa. The options are
plentiful.
 |
The
great room has two dining room tables which come together
to sit 14. Included in this open area is a collection
of leather sofas and chairs, providing a relaxing
place to sit and visit or to just enjoy the view.
With sliding glass doors that disappear into the walls,
this room continues right on out to a large covered
terrace. Out here you will find sufficient tables
and seating for your party to relax or dine outside
should you prefer.

Just off of the great room and connected to the terrace is the “Mediterranean” room.
This bright, open room has a King bed and serves as the master bedroom.
A highlight of this room is the Jacuzzi tub. It is situated so that you can open the bathroom shutters and enjoy the ocean view while you soak.
On this floor are two more bedrooms that face the street side of the property.
The Africa room, fitted with King bed, will take you on safari in the utmost of comfort.
The Asia room, with it Balinese, Thai and Chinese influences, is sure to please you.
It has Twin beds, which can be made into a King. Like all of the other bedrooms at Brisa Caribe, each has high quality mattresses, quality linens, portable stereos, alarm clocks, security safes and attached bathrooms with showers,
fluffy towels and hair dryers.
Our favorite part of the house is the rooftop terrace,
where you will find an additional 1400 sq. ft. of living space.
The views and layout make this the place to be for a party, bar-b-que, sunrises, sunsets and star gazing.
This large area has built in benches arranged to take full advantage of the sunrise and sunset, a covered wet bar with wrap around counter, stools and a gas bar-b-que waiting to grill up a steak or the catch of the day.
Tables and chairs are provided to give you yet another area for dining.
The usefulness of this area means that there are 6400 square feet, plus garden, pool and the beach for you and your group to spread out
over. We often receive comments from our guests about how many nice
places there are in the villa and on the property for them to entertain in,
or escape to.

Brisa Caribe is situated within Puerto Aventuras on an exclusive piece of coastline referred to as
'Las Rocas' or 'the rocks.' This short, flat, strip of rocky coast separates a white sand beach on one end and the entrance to the marina on the other.
Brisa Caribe is located at the end nearest the beach. Here the sand spills out over the rocks and in front of the villa.
A palapa umbrella with hammocks and lounge chairs in the sand, make this a tranquil place to relax and watch the boats passing, as they head to the pristine reef located just off shore to dive, or out a little further to fish for Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo.
Here you will also be able to watch the para-sailers drift by. Or if your group has energy to burn, there is a volleyball court set up in the sand right in front of the
villa. If you still are not tired, how about a game of soccer?
Nearly in front of the villa you will find a saltwater pool carved into the limestone rock. This is a lovely, protected place to swim.
Two channels flush the pool with the passing
waves to keep it clean and allowing small fish to pass through. We have even spotted a baby turtle swimming here once.
100 yards from the saltwater pool, you will find the white sand beach, which continues down past 3 hotels.
This beach is situated in a cove that offers protection for swimmers and like all of the coastline in Mexico, open to the public.
If you get tired of lying in the sun or swimming, you may want to wander the beach or rocky shore combing for shells and other treasures.
During your stay you will likely meet 'Pepe', 'Chico' and 'Gordo' the 3 iguanas
living in the waterfall rocks. Gordo is the big one missing part of
his tail, Chico is the little green iguana, and Pepe is the medium size
one. They like to sun themselves on the rocks while they wait for
you to bring them a little snack. They are vegetarian and especially fond of Hibiscus flowers and the tops of celery.
